Compassion. Courage. Results.
Hilary has been fighting for the civil and human rights of vulnerable people for her entire career. She is especially knowledgeable about the laws governing fair treatment for workers in California. A job is not just a job. It’s not just how you keep a roof over your head and make sure the bills get paid — for many of us, it’s a source of pride, dignity, and identity. As an employment lawyer, Hilary has worked with all kinds of workers. She has represented tech executives, prison staffers, software engineers, package handlers, farmworkers, lobbyists, bus drivers, doctors, receptionists, cooks, caregivers for the elderly, public employees, non-profit employees, organizers, sales reps, grocery store workers, and many, many more. Hilary knows that losing your job due to civil rights violations is not just about losing the paycheck, but about the harm to human dignity that comes from discrimination, retaliation, harassment, or exploitation in the workplace - where we are all just trying to do a decent day’s work in exchange for basic fair treatment. Hilary takes her cases extremely seriously as a result, and maintains a low-volume practice where she can dedicate ample time and resources to the needs of each case.
California’s employment and labor protections are among the strongest in the United States. Hilary is passionate about making these powerful anti-discrimination, anti-retaliation, and fair pay laws into a reality.
Hilary is a member of the California Employment Lawyers Association, the National Employment Lawyers Association, and the San Francisco Bar Association. She has served on the Labor and Employment Executive Committee of the Alameda County Bar Association. She was recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers for Northern California from 2018 to 2022.
